Rik Ellis has trained in Aikido from the age of 5 yrs with his father Henry Ellis Sensei a British Aikido pioneer from 1957, and a direct student of the legendary Budo Master Kenshiro Abbe Sensei who introduced Aikido to Britain in 1955. Rik was involved in the preparation of the book ` Positive Aikido ` in New Mexico USA with his father and the co-authors Dave Rogers USA and Derek Eastman UK.
Rik took part in the great Kenshiro Abbe Memorial Event at Crystal Palace London in May 2005 when demonstrating with his father. He was proud to also take part in the M Nakazono Memorial Event at Neath in 2007. Rik has travelled to the USA teaching with his father in Dallas Texas and Alamogordo New Mexico on several occasions.
Rik trains with Nick `` headhunter `` Chapman - of - Fight Science of Guildford..He also trains with Suleman Raja of Prizefighters at Farnborough.

Yes there is kicking and punching in Aikido.....In the 1950s/60s all Kenshiro Abbe Sensei's Aikido classes began with 30mins hard kicking and punching exercises. and 200 pushups on the back of the wrists. - Click ~ Push-ups on back of wrists
I have been lucky enough to see Ric And his father in action a couple of times over the years. Ric as a MMA Fighter is pure class!! Looking forward to being ringside one day soon!

interesting informations about Ric .
He was taking the training at the age of 5 with his father,Its great because he did the practices lots of years.I think thats why he became that much successful fighter.
